Steven Maksin

Founder, Chief Executive Officer


Steven Maksin is the founding member of Moonbeam Capital Investments, LLC (“MCI”). Today, MCI owns, controls, and manages – debt-free - its real estate portfolio of over 10 million square feet of residential, commercial, retail, office, and hotel space across 13 states nation-wide. Mr. Maksin’s oversight includes acquisitions of distressed properties and non-performing loans; property management and redevelopment; expanding MCI’s alliances with industry and strategic partners; and interfacing with the financial institutions and investor community. As the MCI’s chief executive officer, Mr. Maksin is responsible for leading and aligning MCI’s corporate strategy to meet the Company’s overall business objective of long term capital appreciation through real estate investments.

Prior to founding MCI, Mr. Maksin practiced tax law and accounting at Maksin Legal Group, PLLC and Maksin & Maksin, CPAs, PLLC. From 1994 through 2002, Mr. Maksin worked as a tax and business advisor at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. Mr. Maksin has also been an active investor in real estate, commodities, and other investment products.

Mr. Maksin is an adjunct professor/lecturer in the business department at the City University of New York. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the New York University Stern School of Business Center for Real Estate Finance Research. Mr. Maksin is also a member of the New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association and American Institute of Certified Public Accountancy. He is admitted to the Bar in New York and New Jersey, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He holds CPA licenses in New York and Maryland.

Mr. Maksin earned an LL.M. from the New York University Law School, a J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School, and a Bachelor of Science (cum laude) from the New York University Stern School of Business.

Shawl Pryor

Chief Operating Officer


Shawl Pryor joined the Moonbeam Capital Investments group of companies ("MCI") in 2011 and serves as the Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Pryor is directly responsible for the leasing division, directing property management, conducting community and governmental affairs and implementing the strategic planning process for MCI's commercial real estate portfolio. With over 26 years of experience, Mr. Pryor has extensive knowledge of the commercial real estate industry. He specializes in creating adaptive reuse and repurposing of underperforming commercial real estate assets.

Mr. Pryor is a seasoned, knowledgeable and trusted commercial real estate professional who consistently delivers real time results. He is uniquely qualified to regulate the day-to-day operations and assist the Chief Executive Officer in creating operational strategies while guiding redevelopment plans for the Moonbeam group’s approximately 10 million + square foot nationwide portfolio of leased and managed properties.

Prior to joining MCI in 2011, Mr. Pryor served as the Senior Vice President of Infinity Property Fund. He was also previously the Vice President of asset/property management in the Atlanta office of Colliers International, Glimcher Realty and Heitman Retail Properties.

Mr. Pryor is actively involved in ICSC and other trade organizations on both national and local levels, private and public. He is also an active board member of The Ron Clark Academy and a number of other national and local non-profit organizations.

Mr. Pryor served for seven (7) years as an engineer with the United States Marine Corps in both active and reserve duty capacities.

Mr. Pryor is a native of Chicago, Illinois and currently resides in Marietta, Georgia with his wife and children.

Sergey Valter

Vice President, Real Estate



Mr. Valter oversees the management and maximization of Moonbeam Capital Investments, LLC ("MCI") operations. Since joining MCI in 2012, Mr. Valter has handled numerous sales and acquisitions of regional malls, shopping centers, big box power centers, office buildings and mixed use properties.

Prior to joining MCI, Mr. Valter had worked on real estate transactions at Maksin Legal Group, PLLC

Mr. Valter has a Master's degree in Business Administration from Moscow State University, and is a graduate from Cambridge College

Natalie Maksin

Executive Vice President & Chief Legal Officer



Natalie Maksin is responsible for the Moonbeam Capital Investments, LLC's legal affairs, providing legal counsel for the company's acquisitions, financings, structuring, commercial contracts, tax matters, research, and general legal and business advice to the company's executive management team.

Prior to joining MCI, Natalie Maksin practiced tax law from 2003 to 2010 at Weil, Gotshal and Manges, LLP, where she advised domestic and international clients on structuring of real estate transactions. Prior to Weil, Gotshal and Manges, LLP, Mrs. Maksin was a manager in the PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP's assurance business advisory services group..

Mrs. Maksin is an adjunct professor at the City University of New York where she teaches taxation. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association and American Institute of Certified Public Accountancy. Mrs. Maksin is admitted to the Bar in New York and Connecticut, and the Supreme Court of the United States. She holds CPA licenses in New York and Maryland.

Mrs. Maksin earned an LL.M. from the New York University Law School, a J.D. (the Order of Coif, cum laude) from the Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School, and a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude) from the New York University Stern School of Business.

Jacqueline S. Ackerman, Esq.

Senior Deputy Chief Legal Officer


Jacqueline S. Ackerman joined Moonbeam Capital Investments, LLC (“MCI”) in 2014 and serves as Senior Deputy Chief Legal Officer, providing legal counsel regarding acquisitions, leases, commercial contracts, property management, development and operations. In 2012, Vegas Inc., Las Vegas’s leading business publication, selected her to receive its Top Lawyers award in two categories - Real Estate and Business.

Prior to joining MCI, Ms. Ackerman practiced law in her own firm from 2008 to 2014. From 2005 to 2008, she served as General Counsel of SURE Development, where she directed the legal affairs of affiliated companies involved in real estate development, brokerage and construction. Previously, Ms. Ackerman practiced law with several prestigious law firms in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and served in an executive position with Nevada’s largest homebuilder - Lewis Homes - until it was acquired by KB Homes.

Ms. Ackerman is a member of the State Bars of Nevada and California. She is a Past President of the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, the largest specialty bar association in Nevada, and is a current and past officer and director of other local nonprofit organizations.

Ms. Ackerman earned her J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and her Bachelor of Arts degree (summa cum laude) from Dartmouth College. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Leon Williams

Vice President of Construction and Operations



Leon Williams joined Moonbeam Capital Investments (MCI) in 2013. He is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing facilities & building maintenance, capital improvements, housekeeping, security, health & safety, and risk management. He reviews departmental procedures and implements changes as required streamlining operations, and continually improving management at all properties throughout the MCI portfolio across the United States.

Mr. Williams’s holds an Associate’s Degree in Business and has more than 30 years of operations management experience with defense contractors, civil engineers, and specialty contractors in Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia. Prior to joining MCI, Mr. Williams worked for The Macerich Co. and Jones Lang LaSalle.
